Acupuncture helps your body communicate and heal by releasing blockages in your “Qi” or energy system.  Acupuncture can help improve peoples’ lives by reducing pain, reducing inflammation, improving sleep, improving stress, and helping to balance the body’s immune response. From a western perspective, acupuncture is a physical stimulus that produces a healing response in the body.

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current literature shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.

The risks of acupuncture are low if you have a competent, certified acupuncture practitioner using sterile needles. Common side effects include soreness and minor bleeding or bruising where the needles were inserted. Single-use, disposable needles are now the practice standard, so the risk of infection is minimal.

Yes, children can benefit from chiropractic care. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and blows from activities of daily living, as well as from participating in sports. Injuries such as these may cause many symptoms, including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort. Chiropractic care is always adapted to the individual patient. It is a highly skilled treatment, and in the case of children, very gentle.

Most Insurance plans cover Chiropractic Care. We are participating providers for the following insurance plans:

Blue Cross Blue Shield, Unicare, Aetna, Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, United, Cigna, Allways Health and Medicare.

Acupuncture coverage depends on your plan. We would be happy to call to check your acupuncture benefits. Our Acupuncturists also accept the same insurances listed above.

If you do not see your insurance on this list, please call the office and we will gladly check if we are in network with your plan.

Yes, our providers are experienced in handling all Workman’s Compensation and Auto Injury cases. We highly recommend a combination of Chiropractic and Acupuncture care for all of our accident cases to speed up recovery times.

Doctors of chiropractic—who are licensed to practice in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and in many nations around the world—undergo a rigorous education in the healing sciences, similar to that of medical doctors. Because of the hands-on nature of chiropractic, and the intricate adjusting techniques, a significant portion of time is spent in clinical training. The course of study is approved by an accrediting agency which is fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Before they are allowed to practice, doctors of chiropractic must also pass national board examinations and become state-licensed.

Becoming an acupuncturist requires intensive higher education and practical experience. For most schools, you can expect to spend about three years studying to earn your acupuncture accreditation.

A professional acupuncture curriculum typically consists of:

  • At least 47 semester credits in Oriental medical theory, diagnosis and treatment techniques in acupuncture and related studies
  • 22 semester credits (660 hours) in clinical training
  • 30 semester credits (450 hours) in biomedical clinical sciences
  • 6 semester credits (90 hours) in counseling, communication, ethics, and practice management

Many pregnant women have found that chiropractic adjustments provide relief from the increased low back pain brought on by pregnancy. Chiropractic manipulation is safe for the pregnant woman and her baby and can be especially appealing to those who are trying to avoid medications in treating their back pain. Doctors of chiropractic can also offer nutrition, ergonomic, and exercise advice to help a woman enjoy a healthy pregnancy.

Acupuncture is completely safe during pregnancy, and is proven to be extremely beneficial and effective. In the first trimester it helps to maintain a pregnancy, nourish the body and alleviates early symptoms such as fatigue, nausea and heartburn. Later, the aches, pains, constipation and swelling that go along with pregnancy can be greatly alleviated by acupuncture treatment as well.
